I really dig the look of the woman in the first three charcoals. She has a real classic beauty to her. Man, your work is just excellent. Have you ever thought of writing a book on drawing the female figure? Just to give readers an insight to your process and, the way you build anatomy. I just think that there would be a lot a novice could learn from you.
I’ve been reading many books lately on the subject. I find that every artist seems to have these little individual bits of knowledge in book that really helps me understand anatomy better. (I still suck but, the more I read and practice the less I suck. :D) It would just be cool to read up on your process and, the way you approach the female figure. You just do it so well.
On a side note: Are you going to be doing any signing at the “Paint and Pixel Festival” in a couple weeks. I was thinking of bringing my copy of “TMNT Challenges” if you are.
I told my eight year old son you where going to be there and you might sign his comic. The kid came out with a stack of 30 comics and asked “Do you think he would sign these?” Ha ha. Kid cracks me up. I told him that I wasn’t even sure you would be signing anything but, 30 TMNT comics is a bit excessive. I told him it would not be cool to have an artist sign so many comics because it would make his hand cramp up. Then he could not make any more comics. I told him he could bring one comic if you where going to do any signing. He seemed ok with that. I just thought it was funny and figured I would share that with you.
As usually your work is very inspiring (and makes me jealous, envious, and a couple other deadly sins.) These are just fantastic. I love the sketchy quality of them. On the first one you can see the sketch lines for the basic shapes of the body. It helps give me a bit of insight into your process. Great work. Sorry about the rant. Hope to see you the 14th in Northhampton.

I (and any of the Turtle artists) are well prepared for signing big stacks of comics and whatever. We used to only sign stuff that we actually worked on, but after a while we just signed anything and everything that people lugged in, so feel free to bring a stack I am sure I'll be looking for stuff to do ;)
I have to admit. I never really heard of Andrew Loomis. Yes, I have been under a rock the last 33 years. I just did a little research on him. I have seen his work before. I just did not realize it was his. His work is pretty amazing. I will have to get "Figure Drawing for All It's Worth" when it is released in May.

Most excellent! Thanks for the link. I'm watching a copy of "Figure Drawing For All It's Worth" second printing from 1943 on ebay. I'm hoping the bidding does not go up to much so, I can snag it. I also thought "Drawing the Head & Hands" looked very interesting. (I can not draw hands for the life of me). I just downloaded the PDF so I can give it a read. I just scored a copy of "Figure Drawing For All It's Worth" second printing from 1943 for 20 bucks. Sweet! It's in really good condition. Can you believe it still has the dust jacket? How cool is that? I can't wait to get it in the mail. Thanks Again for pointing the way!
